The District of West Kelowna refers to the communities west
of the floating bridge that feed into Kelowna proper. Great for families at all
stages of life, the Westside offers the convenience of Kelowna living just a
little bit removed from the hustle of the city.
The William R. Bennett Bridge offering five lane traffic to and from Kelowna is an added benefit to living on the Westside along with highway improvement projects to improve traffic flow in the area. This District offers a diversity of neighbourhoods for you to choose from. There are a number of subdivisions offering newer, quality homes, view properties near prominent vineyards, provincial parks and beachfront access. New home developments, recent shopping centre expansions, golf courses, wineries, theatres, a multiplex activity centre, add to this area's growing list of attractions.
Kelowna's Westside is a prime location for family activity
and fun, and is home to many provincial and regional parks, beaches,
campgrounds and horseback riding all offering a variety of activities.
A popular annual event is "Westside Daze" which
celebrates the official start of the renowned Okanagan summer. This 3 day event
held from June 29th to July 1st features pancake breakfasts, barbeques, car
show, free outdoor concerts, fair and winds up with a Canada Day parade to
commemorate our Country's birthday. Downhill skiers enjoy Crystal Mountain Ski
Resort with 21 runs and 470 acres of trails for skiers and snowboarders, along
with snow-shoeing. Nearby Telemark Cross Country Ski Club is another popular
destination offering over 50 kilometers of trails groomed for both classic and
skate skiing plus a biathlon range and snow shoe trails.
Shannon Lake Golf Course and Two Eagles Golf Course and
Academy provide options for the golfer in your family.
